At Correctional Medicine Associates, we are seeking a highly skilled Physician to join our team. As a Physician, you will be responsible for providing high-quality medical care to inmates in a correctional facility.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide professional medical services to inmates, including administering examinations, diagnosing medical problems, prescribing medications, and providing treatment and follow-up care.
- Lead the medical program in collaboration with the Health Services Supervisor, ensuring the delivery of high-quality medical services.
- Monitor and review operations and standards of care delivered to inmates.
- Interview inmates and make decisions on admissions.
- Make clinical rounds and participate in treatment team meetings to devise, review, and alter individual health plans.
- Direct unit treatment operations and perform minor and occasional major surgery as needed.
- Hold clinics for nursing specialists and maintain a good working relationship with facility staff, nursing staff, contract providers, and outside provider agencies.
- Utilize established corporate, facility, and correctional policies and procedures in making decisions and exercising sound independent judgment.
- Assist in the formulation of facility policy for the medical department and motivate staff to perform their duties consistently with policy and procedures.
- Evaluate the provision of medical services to prevent the inappropriate use or duplication of those services.
- Monitor inmate hospitalizations and facilitate early release whenever clinically appropriate.
- Closely monitor potential catastrophic illnesses and prepare and maintain various medical records, reports, and logs.
- Maintain absolute security and confidentiality of all medical records and audit medical files for documentation of provided services.
- Evaluate and recommend methods of improving operational efficiency and cost effectiveness of health-related services.
- Meet with outside hospital/agency administrators to ensure a close working relationship between them and the facility.
- Facilitate accreditation of the medical program by providing the required level of organizational efficiency and approved medical services.
- Accept on-call status and attend seminars, workshops, conferences, etc., as required.
- Provide health counseling and education on an individual or group basis and communicate effectively with administration, staff, inmates, visitors, and the general public.
- Read, analyze, comprehend, and interpret technical procedures, governmental regulations, legal and non-legal documents, and process such documents as medical instructions, commitment orders, and other legal writs.
Qualifications:
- Graduate from an accredited school of medicine.
- Licensed to practice medicine in the state of employment.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Minimum age requirement: 18 years of age.
