Extrusion Technician II

We are seeking a highly skilled Technician II, Extrusion to join our Cardiac Rhythm Management division in Plymouth, MN. As a global leader in Cardiac Rhythm Technologies, we focus on innovative technologies that improve the way doctors treat people with heart arrhythmias.
Key Responsibilities- Establish process parameters for new products, experimental products, and R&D runs.
- Perform engineering runs on IQs, OQs, and PQs.
- Elevate productivity and quality concerns to appropriate resources.
- Take initiative to be involved with leadership responsibility such as scrap reduction, cycle time reduction, setup reduction, and other continuous improvement initiatives.
- Order production tooling and supply items.
- Contact outside resources when necessary, such as manufacturing engineers, quality engineers, or equipment support services.
- Mentor entry-level technicians and provide support to peers.
- Establish effective working relationships with operators, group leads, and department support.
- Perform all tear-downs and set-ups for extruders and co-extruders.
- Achieve and maintain extruders with established cycle times and process parameters.
- Read and understand tooling prints, part prints, processes, and documentation.
- Fulfill documentation requirements correctly.
- Perform accurate manufacturing parts inspections.
- Effectively use quality equipment, such as gauges, tooling scopes, micrometers, rulers, etc.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot basic processing errors, such as O.D., I.D., ovality, concentricity, FM, etc.
- Understand material properties and their effects on quality and the process.
- Perform basic maintenance on extruders and auxiliary equipment, such as driers, melt filters, blow-off tables, cutters, pullers, etc.
- Support all company initiatives, as identified by management, and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements.
- Comply with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments.
- Technical diploma preferred or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience, preferably in the medical device industry, with demonstrated experience in extrusion, tooling, troubleshooting equipment, and performing machine and process set-ups.
- Experience in GMP, ISO, and FDA-controlled environments preferred.
- Proficient computer, data analysis, and report writing skills.
- Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model preferred.
- Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.
- Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
- Multitasking, prioritization, and meeting deadlines in a timely manner.
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- Regularly scheduled overtime is a requirement of this position.
