The Poultry Care Specialist position is an entry-level role focused on the welfare of laying hens. Responsibilities include monitoring feed and water supply for the hens, observing their production, ensuring proper airflow, managing feed and water for baby chicks, maintaining feeders and waterers, ensuring heaters are functional when necessary, and culling non-productive chickens.


Responsibilities:
Ensure the humane and ethical treatment of laying hens.

Remove deceased birds from all cages/systems.

Inspect all rows to address egg blockages.

Replace burnt-out light bulbs.

Maintain feeders and waterers in optimal condition.

Clean egg transfer equipment.

Clear egg collectors of debris.

Sweep walkways to keep them free of obstruction.

Clean the front and back of barns.

Capture loose birds.

Perform other assigned duties as necessary.

Qualifications:
No prior experience or training is required.

Ability to read and comprehend documents such as safety regulations, operational and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.


While fulfilling the responsibilities of this position, the employee may utilize small hand tools, air compressors, and other necessary equipment.
