Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our Med Surg Stepdown Unit team at Duke Raleigh Hospital.

The successful candidate will provide direct nursing care to assigned patients, working collaboratively with our interdisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide and document direct nursing care to assigned patients, adhering to established policies and procedures.
  • Assist physicians and other healthcare personnel in the delivery of patient care, including diagnostic procedures and treatments.
  • Evaluate patient responses to care and report findings to registered nurses for evaluation and modification of the plan of care.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for patients.
  • Assist in the training of new employees and participate in in-service education programs to enhance professional development.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited Practical Nurse program.
  • Current State of North Carolina LPN licensure or compact license while pursuing North Carolina LPN licensure.
  • Considerable knowledge of the care and treatment of patients, as well as special procedures applicable to practical nursing.
  • Able to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Competent in Basic Life Support (BLS) and other specialized life support requirements designated by work area or organization.
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, requiring strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

They will be expected to navigate the hospital's electronic medical record system and other technology platforms to provide high-quality patient care.

The Med Surg Stepdown Unit is a 24/7 environment, and the successful candidate will be required to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, and nights.

They will also be expected to participate in performance improvement activities and contribute to the development of new policies and procedures.

The successful candidate will be a team player, able to work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve exceptional patient outcomes.
