Job Description

As a Maintenance Worker Supervisor with the Air Education and Training Command, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities. This is an exciting opportunity to utilize your leadership skills and experience in maintenance operations to supervise a team of lodging maintenance workers.

About the Position

This Regular Part-Time position comes with a guaranteed 20 hours per week, making it an ideal fit for those seeking a balanced work-life schedule. Responsibilities
  1. Supervise a team of lodging maintenance workers, ensuring the accomplishment of facility maintenance, motor vehicle operations, and grounds maintenance duties.
  2. Plan the use of workers, equipment, materials, facilities, tools, etc., on a week-to-week basis.
  3. Conduct self-help projects for lodging facilities, aligning with methods and policies set by higher-level supervisors.
  4. Track and report progress on work assignments, requesting authority to use overtime when needed.
  5. Coordinate work with supporting or related work functions controlled by other supervisors.
  6. Determine the number and type of workers required for specific projects.
  7. Redirect individual workers to accomplish unanticipated work.
  8. Provide input on initial planning of current and future lodging maintenance needs.
  9. Offer technical direction and/or assistance in completing difficult work steps and processes.
  10. Oversee work progress to meet scheduled deadlines.
  11. Inspect lodging facilities, rooms, common areas, grounds, equipment, and tools to ensure proper maintenance.
  12. Repair discrepancies, identify minor plumbing and electrical issues, sanitation problems, or deteriorated paint surfaces.
  13. Report any actual or potential work delays to the supervisor.
  14. Investigate work-related problems, such as excessive costs, to determine causes.
  15. Select suitable applicants for vacancies, sometimes promoting or reassigning subordinates from within the maintenance shop.
  16. Plan, establish, and schedule leave; set performance standards; determine performance ratings; determine training requirements, and prepare/recommend disciplinary actions for subordinates.
  17. Advise and counsel workers on improving their performance and explain new work techniques.
  18. Investigate grievances and complaints, resolving them informally and notifying supervisors of significant or serious matters.
  19. Maintain work reports and records.
  20. Ensure the maintenance and upkeep of equipment, guaranteeing they are in good mechanical and safe operating condition.
  21. Perform minor construction and repair on existing structures involving standard measurements, specifications, instructions, basic shop mathematics.
  22. Install exterior and interior trim using preplanned materials, such as baseboards and molding.
Requirements

To qualify for this position, you must have the ability to plan, schedule, and direct the work operations of subordinates, along with a basic knowledge of administrative and personnel management procedures.

Able to supervise, demonstrated through experience as a supervisor or project management assignments.

Ability to complete various reports and track requirements and completions.

Knowledge and experience in plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and painting trades.

Knowledge and skill in the use of job-related hand tools and machines.

Must be able to communicate effectively in English, read, write, and speak.

Possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license.

May be required to lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds and heavier with assistance and perform frequent bending, lifting, and have good manipulative dexterity of fingers, bands, and arms.

Estimated Salary:

$65,000 - $85,000 per annum, based on qualifications and experience.
