This role is situated within the Substation Division of our organization. The specialist will oversee Substation projects that cater to our clients' needs. Collaboration with internal and client engineers and designers is essential. Additionally, the specialist will provide, coordinate, and deliver training to junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate project scopes, single-line diagrams, and cost estimates for substation initiatives.
  • Assess substation construction documents, including electrical layouts, plan and section views, grounding, and cable drawings, ensuring adherence to relevant codes and standards.
  • Design and engineer lightning protection, grounding systems, and equipment repair and replacement for substations.
  • Implement necessary modifications and corrections to drawings and documentation.
  • Ensure proper utilization of materials and equipment in line with project documentation standards and regulations.
  • Confirm timely ordering and delivery of materials and equipment for substation construction.
  • Conduct site visits to gather information and develop accurate project requirements for substation development.
  • Act as a project lead for substation initiatives.
  • Execute all engineering and design tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Lead and coordinate the work activities of team members and external collaborators to complete substation projects.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff.
  • Identify and initiate corrective measures when project objectives are not met.
  • Interpret regulations and develop construction standards.
  • Advocate for engineering professionalism and standards.
  • Engage in planning development by setting goals, objectives, and requirements.
  • Work under the supervision of senior engineers.
  • Occasional travel to project sites may be required.

Qualifications

  • 5 to 8 years of experience in utility sectors focusing on protection and controls.
  • 5 to 8 years of experience managing engineering projects from inception to completion.
  • 5 to 8 years of experience in relay setting and designing single-line diagrams.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET accredited).
  • A Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET accredited) will be considered towards experience.
  • A Professional Engineer (PE) License is mandatory.
