Job Overview

Position Summary

The Teacher plays a pivotal role in nurturing the growth and development of young children during their crucial early years. This position involves leading a dedicated teaching team, overseeing the educational curriculum, and managing the daily operations of the classroom. A comprehensive understanding of children's developmental stages—cognitive, social, emotional, and physical—is essential to create a safe and engaging learning environment that promotes active participation and success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute educational programs by crafting classroom activities that align with developmentally appropriate practices and early learning benchmarks.
  • Inspire and support the teaching team by demonstrating effective practices and providing coaching.
  • Organize individual and group activities tailored to children's age, fostering their social, cognitive, and emotional development.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with parents through informal conversations, progress updates, and scheduled conferences.
  • Adhere to all center policies and comply with state regulations.
  • Ensure a hygienic and safe classroom environment, upholding cleanliness and security standards for children.
  • Oversee teacher assistants and volunteers to ensure adherence to planned activities and safety protocols.
  • Keep accurate documentation, including records and files.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching quality.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in child care (candidates with less experience may be considered if willing to obtain certification on the job).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with basic computer proficiency.
  • High energy and the ability to collaborate effectively with staff, children, and parents, fostering a supportive team atmosphere.
  • A solid understanding of child development principles.
  • Certification in Infant/Child CPR and First Aid.
  • Successful completion of a full background check and health screening.
  • An Associate's Degree in early childhood education or a related field, with at least 30 credits in ECE.
  • Physical requirements include the ability to walk frequently, use hands and fingers, handle objects, and communicate effectively at various levels. May also require kneeling, bending, squatting, or crawling.
  • Vision capabilities must include the ability to see close and at varying distances, perceive colors, and have depth perception.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
