The CT Imaging Specialist is responsible for performing advanced computer tomography procedures and related techniques, producing both sectional and three-dimensional images for diagnostic interpretation. This role also involves assisting with interventional and therapeutic procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Complex CT Procedures: Execute intricate CT imaging procedures with precision.
- Patient History Review: Utilize professional judgment to gather and document the patient's clinical history, ensuring all information is accurately scanned into the PACS system.
- Contrast Media Management: Prepare and review the contrast questionnaire with patients and/or family members, and administer contrast media as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
- Prescription Verification: Assess patient prescriptions for appropriateness, and communicate with Radiologists and Referring Physicians for any necessary clarifications.
- Insurance Coordination: Verify insurance authorization for exams and coordinate with Finance for any modifications required.
- Study Acquisition: Obtain outside studies and ensure they are scheduled in the EPIC system for Radiologist review.
- Patient Interaction: Provide exam copies to patients and their requesting physicians or family members.
- Radiograph Evaluation: Assess radiographs using the PACS system to confirm proper identification and diagnostic quality.
- Patient Preparation: Prepare patients for scanning by utilizing appropriate techniques, including shielding and immobilization devices.
- Monitoring: Observe patients' physical conditions for any adverse reactions during procedures.
- Comprehensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and radiological positioning.
- Understanding of CT software and hardware functionalities.
- Familiarity with PACS systems.
- ARRT (CT) certification is required within the first year of employment.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is necessary within the first three months of employment.
- Preferred experience of six months in CT imaging.
- Knowledge of Epic and other HIS/RIS systems utilized by the facility.
Flexibility in scheduling is essential, including availability for holidays and weekends, with potential for overtime to ensure quality patient care.
Physical Requirements- Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. and push/pull a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Capability to stand for extended periods, typically a minimum of 6 hours a day.
This role requires a commitment to understanding and addressing the diverse needs of the patient population served, ensuring that care is tailored to individual requirements.
