Role Overview: This hourly Union position primarily involves the precise heat treatment of products according to specified orders, as well as tempering and cleaning products while documenting results. Responsibilities include operating heat treat and temper furnaces, Wheelabrator shot blast machines, link heat treat machines, and forklifts. Qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
- Preferred experience in a manufacturing setting with basic mechanical skills.
- Familiarity with measuring tools (e.g., tape measures, calipers).
- Effective verbal communication skills and basic computer literacy.
- Ability to understand basic technology and components in chain manufacturing and assembly.
- Capability to manage multiple tasks and priorities with good mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues at all levels with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct heat treat operations.
- Load products onto fixtures, set up equipment accurately, and ensure products are heat treated to specifications, tempered, and cleaned.
- Operate heat treat and temper furnaces, Wheelabrator shot blast machines, link heat treat machines, and forklifts.
- Provide assistance to team members as required.
Employee Requirements:
- Adhere to safety protocols, preventative maintenance, and housekeeping standards.
- Ensure compliance with product quality specifications.
- Complete process and quality documentation accurately.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Work with minimal supervision.
Physical Demands: This role requires the ability to stand frequently, use hands for handling or feeling, and communicate effectively. Employees may occasionally need to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds is essential, with assistance available for heavier loads. Vision requirements include close, distance, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment: Employees may encounter moving mechanical parts and be exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is typically loud.
