Position Summary:
The Coil Winder is responsible for operating specialized machinery to create wire and sheet coils utilized in transformer applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize wire-coiling equipment to produce coils for electrical transformers.
- Analyze work orders and specifications to ascertain necessary materials and components.
- Demonstrate proficiency in reading and interpreting winding sheets, technical drawings, and schematics.
- Operate various machinery including winding lathes, punches, brakes, slitters, and shears.
- Prepare wire leads by cutting, stripping, and bending using appropriate hand tools.
- Load and select materials such as work pieces and machine parts for winding operations.
- Document production metrics and operational data accurately on designated forms.
- Modify and attach materials like wire and insulation using hand tools.
- Safely remove finished components from machines with the aid of overhead cranes.
- Conduct thorough examinations and tests on components with measuring instruments, documenting results accordingly.
- Apply adhesives to electrical components as needed and perform curing processes.
- Utilize brazing and welding tools effectively.
- Follow verbal instructions from supervisors or designated personnel.
- Adhere to safety, quality, and productivity standards set by the company.
- Flexibility to work various shifts including 1st, 2nd, or 3rd.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent standing and walking.
- Ability to maintain a forward-bent posture for extended periods.
- Above-average grip and pinch strength, along with hand coordination.
- Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs for materials.
- Ability to lift heavier items (up to 55 lbs) with assistance.
Compensation: $21 - $24 per hour
