Position Summary:
The role involves the design and execution of civil engineering projects, particularly in the transportation sector. Collaborating closely with the Project Manager, the incumbent will define project scopes, align with client expectations, assist in contract pricing, deliver engineering services, ensure project quality, allocate resources effectively, and achieve project timelines and profitability targets. The position may also entail serving as the Engineer of Record for project documentation.

Responsibilities
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop comprehensive plans and specifications for municipal and state transportation initiatives.
- Concentrate on the design aspects of roadways, drainage systems, and traffic signals.
- Conduct traffic analyses and studies as required.
- Assist in the preparation of proposals and fee structures.
- Utilize software tools such as OpenRoads, Geopak, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D for roadway design and analysis.
- Prepare technical reports and conduct conceptual design evaluations.
- Collaborate within a team led by a Project Manager.
- Provide technical support to project managers for proposal preparation and client presentations.
- Work alongside the project manager in planning, offering technical insights on project scope, concepts, task organization, effort estimation, fee structures, risk management, and scheduling.
- Oversee the production of project deliverables, including signing and sealing work products as a Registered Professional Engineer. Engage in activities such as:
- Preliminary studies, planning, and cost estimation
- Final report development for studies
- Design process oversight
- Production of design plans
- Conducting project review meetings
- Development of specifications and contract documents
- Bidding and contract award processes
- Oversight of contract administration
- Quality monitoring of project deliverables
- Conduct site investigations and prepare reports on existing conditions.
- Contribute to project accounting processes, reviewing time and expense allocations.
- Stay updated on engineering trends and participate in relevant professional organizations.
- Analyze project-specific issues and recommend efficient, cost-effective solutions.
- Engage with equipment vendors on a technical basis as directed.
- Select suitable materials and equipment based on performance, cost, and maintenance considerations.
- Manage engineering tasks and coordinate with other disciplines as necessary.
- Handle multiple projects for various clients concurrently.
- Visit clients and project sites as required to support project and business development efforts.
- Act as a consultant on transportation projects during the construction phase.

- Familiarity with stormwater design/analysis programs is preferred.

Education: A Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field is required.
Experience: A minimum of 4-8 years of relevant engineering experience is required, with a preference for candidates experienced in OpenRoads or AutoCAD. Professional licensure in the required states is expected to be obtained promptly.
Travel Expectations: Occasional travel in-state and out-of-state may be necessary, typically involving visits to project sites, office locations, or attendance at seminars. Minimum travel is expected to be around 10%, with certain roles requiring more. Travel requirements will be communicated by management. A valid driver's license with a clean record is necessary.
