Position Overview

PeaceHealth is seeking a dedicated Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to become a vital part of our Gastroenterology department.

This role primarily operates in a clinical setting, with potential travel to various PeaceHealth facilities as needed.

This position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement, and multiple openings may be available.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with a team of experienced Gastroenterologists and a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Manage outpatient clinic duties, seeing approximately 12-14 patients daily.
  • No on-call responsibilities.
  • Utilize EPIC EMR for patient management.
  • Benefit from Washington state's absence of personal income tax.

Job Responsibilities

The Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for conducting advanced nursing evaluations, clinical assessments, and managing medication prescriptions while ensuring follow-up care for patients. The Physician Assistant will work under the supervision of a physician, addressing patients' medical, physical, and psychosocial needs.

Essential Duties

  • Conduct thorough history and physical examinations, interpreting laboratory and diagnostic results to inform treatment plans.
  • Order and perform necessary laboratory or diagnostic tests.
  • Provide essential procedures, including surgical assistance, while continuously assessing patient needs.
  • Prescribe medications and durable medical goods within the scope of practice.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and document progress notes regarding treatments and procedures.
  • Educate patients on preventive care, medical conditions, and prescribed treatments.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • Required: Completion of educational requirements for ARNP or PA certification.

Credentials

  • Required: Board Certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
  • Required: Valid ARNP or PA license in Washington state, or eligibility to obtain during the credentialing process.
  • Required: Drug Enforcement Administration registration.
  • Required: Valid driver's license with proof of auto insurance.
  • Required Upon Hire: Basic Life Support certification.
  • Preferred: Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification.
