Position Overview

The Registered Nurse in Obstetrics provides essential care to expectant mothers and their newborns, employing the nursing process in line with established standards and practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive patient care, including medication administration, specimen collection, and clinical treatments.

• Maintain accurate documentation of patient care activities.

• Monitor and communicate patient conditions effectively to the healthcare team, including physicians, patients, and families.

• Assess educational needs of patients and families, providing tailored education based on age, culture, and health status.

• Advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of patients.

• Adhere to established policies, safety standards, and confidentiality protocols.

• Participate in annual competency evaluations and comprehensive assessments as per hospital guidelines.

• Formulate nursing diagnoses based on patient assessments and develop care plans accordingly.

• Deliver daily care in alignment with the established care plan.

• Demonstrate knowledge of care standards, policies, medications, and legal considerations.

• Engage in hospital committees and quality improvement initiatives as directed.

• Commit to ongoing professional development and education.

Qualifications

Education:
• Graduate from an accredited nursing program
• Current RN license in the State of Michigan
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred

Skills:
• Strong critical thinking and decision-making abilities
• Capacity to function effectively in high-pressure environments
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) certifications required
• Valid RN license in Michigan
