About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Geotechnical Engineering Intern to join our US Mine Waste Team in Lakewood, CO, Anchorage, AK, Madison, WI, or Creve Coeur, MO offices.

Responsibilities
  • Support a variety of engineering tasks to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
  • Learn basic principles of Civil and Geotechnical Engineering.
  • Assist our US Mine Waste team with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
  • Support preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
  • Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
  • Complete training on assigned tasks.
Requirements
  • Actively enrolled in an accredited Civil or Geotechnical Engineering Degree or related undergraduate degree.
  • Must be 18 or older.
  • Demonstrated interest in heavy earthwork, construction, or mining, or related field, and have a strong desire to advance skills related to WSP's work and projects.
  • Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
  • Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to execute projects.
  • Strong technical writing, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Basic proficiency with office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
  • Detail-oriented with an emphasis on quality work products.
  • Ability to travel up to 80% of the duration of employment.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Actively enrolled in an accredited Civil or Geotechnical Engineering Masters, or PhD program.
  • Prior internship and leadership involvement on campus.
