Job Description:Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities:
  • Lead hand therapy services for Westmed, working closely with referring providers and mentoring existing staff and new hires.
  • Perform and document initial exams, evaluating data to identify problems and develop a plan of care, informing patients when diagnosis reveals findings outside occupational therapy and referring to appropriate practitioners.
  • Fabricate custom splints based on physician orders and evaluation of patient needs.
  • Record prognosis, treatment, response, and progress into the electronic medical record.
  • Plan, prepare, and carry out individually designed programs of physical treatment to maintain, improve, or restore physical functioning, alleviate pain, and prevent physical dysfunction in patients.
  • Evaluate the effects of treatment at various stages and adjust treatments to achieve maximum benefit.
  • Direct, supervise, assess, and communicate with supportive personnel.
  • Provide educational information about occupational therapy, including injury prevention, ergonomics, and ways to promote health.
  • Discharge patients from occupational therapy when goals or projected outcomes have been attained and provide for appropriate follow-up care or referrals.
General Qualification Standards & Job Requirements:
  • NYS Occupational Therapy License and Registration - required.
  • Hand Therapist Certification - required.
  • BLS Certification - required.
