Job Summary

The Assistant Director of Financial Aid is a key member of the Ivy Tech Community College team, responsible for providing financial aid counseling to students and families. This role requires a strong understanding of financial aid regulations and processes, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Aid Counseling: Provide financial aid counseling to students and families, explaining the application process and assisting with the completion of applications.
  • Application Processing: Process applications and other materials related to financial assistance, including Student Aid Reports (SAR), student/parent loan applications, tax transcripts, verification of information, and certification of student eligibility.
  • Financial Aid Award Packaging: Package financial aid awards, disburse funds, notify students and agencies of disbursements, and process necessary reports related to federal, state, and institutional aid programs.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records for student aid applicants and help in collecting data for required reporting.
  • Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP): Monitor and enforce SAP, updating the system as needed after review of SAP.
  • Training and Professional Development: Attend training events (in person or virtually) to increase and maintain financial aid knowledge, and earn at least one credential through NASFAA.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Associate Degree and at least 3-4 years of related work experience, or Bachelor's Degree and at least 1-3 years of related work experience.
  • Leadership and Customer Service: At least two years of relevant experience demonstrating leadership qualities and a customer-service focus.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication, and ability to work with college departments to obtain and maintain accurate information for callers.
  • Organizational and Time Management Skills: Ability to set priorities, manage time effectively, handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously, and demonstrated ability to work with a diverse student population in a fast-paced environment.
