Job Summary

This position is responsible for providing direct and indirect Occupational Therapy services to Adult and Adolescent Behavioral Health inpatients. The successful candidate will work closely with the Clinical Nurse Manager to develop treatment plans, coordinate assessments, and provide consultations to patients and the treatment team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate patient's level of functioning and treatment needs through comprehensive reviews of clinical information.
  • Develop treatment plans with age-appropriate goals and interventions, written in specific, measurable, and time-specific terms.
  • Implement age-appropriate, patient-specific treatment, taking into account patient's clinical issues, level of functioning, and treatment plan.
  • Communicate and coordinate patient's plan of care with the treatment team, ensuring successful patient outcomes.
  • Complete all required documentation in a timely manner, adhering to ECHN Departmental/Behavioral Health standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Provide supervision on group topics and group skills to inpatient staff, enhancing patient care and outcomes.
  • Participate in team meetings, providing pertinent, functional clinical information to support patient care.
  • Respond to needs for individualized and comprehensive services, providing services individually and/or in a group setting.
  • Increase the visibility of Occupational Therapy services, promoting recovery through functionally based therapeutic modalities.
  • Effectively manage violent or potentially violent situations, consistent with Physical Management Training (PMT).
  • Participate in Early Response codes and Dr. Strong codes.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy from an Accredited College or University.
  • State OTR license required.
  • Training in PMT and de-escalation techniques, with certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Experience working with the chronic BH/psychiatric population preferred.
Competencies
  • Strong clinical skills, including a demonstrated strong team orientation.
  • Effective written and verbal communication using the English language.
  • Computer competency with basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Outlook.
  • Flexibility in approach to individualize treatment meeting each patient's needs.
  • Excellence in time management.
  • Ability to take swift and efficient action, including patient restraint when responding to patient emergency codes.
