Manufacturing Engineer-Equipment Specialist

As a key member of our manufacturing team, you will play a critical role in the transfer process for new products, equipment assessments, and replacements, validation activities, continuous improvement projects, and resolving quality issues that occur in Operations.

You will be responsible for expanding your knowledge of new and developing manufacturing technology, equipment, and processes, and applying this knowledge to identify gaps and benchmark against industry best practices to recommend and implement new technology, equipment, and processes.

You will also acquire subject matter expert status of existing in-plant technology, equipment, and processes, and provide ongoing support for manufacturing equipment and processes by assessing and trouble-shooting problems or issues.

Additionally, you will mentor engineers and operators to improve production capacity and troubleshoot existing plant problems, identify opportunities to improve quality, cost, and safety, and champion them.

You will manage the in-plant equipment health assessment program to ensure that equipment is maintained in a supportable state, conduct training on process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (pFMEA) and facilitate meetings for conducting pFMEA analysis.

You will utilize risk analysis to identify, specify, and design technology, equipment, and processes, champion technology, equipment, and processes upgrades, and acquire new technology, equipment, and applications.

You will prepare user, operation, and design requirements for new equipment, design tools and equipment, and/or prepare bid packages for equipment acquisition and manage the bid review and approval process.

You will also prepare and justify financial evaluations for major capital expenditures, manage equipment build process, including design review, factory acceptance testing, facilities build out for new equipment, delivery and installation of new equipment, and site acceptance testing.

You will perform engineering studies on equipment to verify operation and performance, prepare operating procedures for equipment and related work instructions, and acquire subject matter expert status for new technology, equipment, and processes and provide training.

Requirements:

  • BS or MS in Engineering or equivalent
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma
  • Knowledge of PLC programming
  • Capable of clear and concise communication of technical data, both written and oral
  • Track record of self-motivated design, execution, and analysis of experiments on aggressive schedules in a rapidly changing environment
  • Capacity to thrive in a multidisciplinary setting while working alongside engineers, biologists, software developers, and manufacturing professionals
  • Extensive knowledge of manufacturing principles and techniques
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Proficient with computer-aided drafting (CAD) software
