As a Senior Underwriter, you will play a critical role in the production underwriting, marketing, and processing of Architects and Engineers (A&E) and Miscellaneous Professional Liability (MPL) lines of business.
Key Responsibilities- Underwrite and analyze new business and renewal submissions for our A&E and MPL team, ensuring accurate and timely decision-making.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with professional liability specialist brokers in the Central U.S. marketplace, driving business growth and revenue.
- Participate in client and broker meetings, providing expert guidance and support to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.
- Develop and maintain a submission pipeline sufficient to achieve overall production and business mix objectives, driving business growth and revenue.
- Use market contacts to bring in business, gather and share market intelligence, and cross-sell Argo Pro and other Argo Group products.
- A Bachelor's degree from an accredited university required.
- A relentless desire to continually update your skill level through continuing education and self-development.
- Previous insurance educational work, IIA and CPCU designations are strongly preferred.
- A minimum of five years underwriting experience with authority, preferably in excess and surplus lines.
- A genuine excitement to meet and exceed customer expectations on each and every interaction.
- Demonstrated robust and productive relationships with professional liability specialist brokers in the Central U.S. marketplace.
- Demonstrated strong negotiation skills, achieving favorable outcomes in win-win negotiations.
- Flexibility and the ability to thrive in change are essential for success in this role.
- A strong focus on execution, getting things done right, and delivering expected results.
- Excellent ability to collect, gather, manipulate, and analyze information in detail to draw conclusions on how to underwrite an account profitably.
- Advanced knowledge of computer programs, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- Ability to travel approximately 20% of the time.
