Job Summary

The U.S. Department of the Interior is seeking a highly skilled Hydrologic Technician to join our team. As a Hydrologic Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting the hydrology program on the Columbia Basin Project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and analyze hydrologic data to inform water resource management decisions.
  • Assist with the installation, maintenance, and repair of hydrologic equipment and instrumentation.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of hydrologic monitoring programs.
  • Prepare and present data and findings to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure effective water resource management.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 6 months of general experience and 6 months of specialized experience comparable to the GS-03 grade level.
  • Education: Successful completion of at least 2 years of study above high school (60 semester hours/90 quarter hours) that includes at least 12 semester hours in any combination of courses in engineering, industrial technology, construction drafting, surveying, physical science, biology, or mathematics.
  • OR Combination: Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One full year of specialized experience comparable to the GS-04 grade level.
  • Education: Successful completion of at least a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate field of science, engineering, construction, or industrial technology.
  • OR Combination: Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above.
Working Conditions

This position requires regular and recurring solo driving to perform field work, which accounts for 75% of the position's time. You must maintain a valid State Driver's License at all times.

Security Clearance

This position is designated as a MODERATE RISK Public Trust position. It requires a fully completed and favorably adjudicated Public Trust Suitability Background Investigation (T2S or T2RS or equivalent) that is current (within the last 5 years).
