Job Title: Histology Technologist

Job Summary:

As a Histology Technologist, you will be responsible for performing histology and cytology procedures, including specimen processing, fixation, cell block preparation, embedding, microtomy, slide preparation, routine stains, IHC and special stains, and case organization in accordance with department procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform histology and cytology procedures, including specimen processing, fixation, cell block preparation, embedding, microtomy, slide preparation, routine stains, IHC and special stains, and case organization in accordance with department procedures.
  • Assure positive sample, block, and slide identification.
  • Prepare and maintain reagents for routine stains and histology procedures.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and instrumentation per manufacturer and department procedures and per department schedule.
  • Adhere to department policy with regards to performance and documentation of quality control and quality assurance for instrumentation, equipment, and procedures performed.
  • Utilize independent judgment and problem-solving skills to ensure the accuracy of procedures performed and proper equipment performance.
  • Troubleshoot and take appropriate corrective action to resolve and/or escalate issues in a timely manner for resolution.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma and minimum two years of histology experience.
  • Completion of an accredited program in Histo-technology or Associate's degree in Chemistry, Biology, and one year of histology experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Biomedical Science, Biology, or Chemistry.
  • National Certification as a MT (ASCP) or HT (ASCP) required.
  • State license where required (CA, FL, GA, HI, LA, MT, NV, NY, ND, RI, WV).

Compensation:

Up to $34.47/hr (based on years of experience). Nights: $4/hr.
