Job Summary

You will work closely with our Laboratory Manager and other laboratory members to drive projects forward and communicate with diverse groups via email to relay project updates.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead high molecular weight nucleic acid isolation for a diversity of plant species
  • Prepare PacBio libraries and sequencing
  • Assist in preparing manuscripts and co-author papers for publication in high-quality journals
  • Interact with collaborators to receive samples and communicate sample timelines and issues
  • Present findings to the scientific community
  • Assist in the mentoring and teaching of other research staff
  • Ensure that research methods and ultimate work product are reflective of the highest scientific standards of integrity, quality, and confidence
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in biology, biotechnology, genetics, or a related field
  • Experience with pipetting and general molecular biology
  • Experience with nucleic acid isolation
  • Experience in sequencing library preparation (short-read or long-read)
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a highly collaborative environment
  • Demonstrated ability to advance projects, managing multiple tasks and priorities
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position (sit or stand) for prolonged periods (50% of the time)
  • Frequently moving between work areas
  • Frequently moving, transporting, and positioning materials up to 30 pounds
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception
