Position Overview:

Arcadis is in search of a highly skilled Senior Commercial Manager to manage all commercial dimensions of a major tunnel initiative in the New York / New Jersey region. This role presents a distinctive chance to spearhead the commercial oversight of a prestigious tunnel project, significantly influencing infrastructure advancement. This position demands a seasoned expert with profound knowledge in steering commercial functions within the heavy civil engineering domain, especially in tunneling, rail, transit, and associated infrastructure endeavors. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in ensuring adherence to contracts, effective cost management, procurement, and risk mitigation throughout the project's duration.

Key Responsibilities:

Direct and oversee the commercial team tasked with contract management, procurement, cost oversight, and claims resolution. Formulate and execute commercial strategies aimed at enhancing project profitability while minimizing associated risks. Supervise the drafting, negotiation, and management of contracts, ensuring alignment with contractual stipulations. Conduct comprehensive evaluations of contract documents, pinpointing potential risks and opportunities for cost efficiencies. Oversee procurement processes, including bid assessments, contract negotiations, and supplier/vendor relations. Track project financial performance, encompassing budget oversight, forecasting, and variance assessments. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to offer commercial insights and support on project-related decisions. Ensure precise and timely reporting of commercial status, including cash flow forecasts, revenue acknowledgment, and cost tracking. Lead commercial negotiations with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to secure advantageous outcomes for the project. Implement robust risk management practices to alleviate commercial risks and optimize opportunities for project success.

Qualifications & Experience:

A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in commercial management within the heavy civil engineering sector, focusing on tunneling, rail, transit, or similar infrastructure projects. Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or a related discipline. In-depth understanding of contract management principles, procurement methodologies, and commercial best practices. Demonstrated leadership capabilities with a proven ability to guide and mentor a team of commercial professionals. Established track record in negotiating and managing intricate contracts and agreements. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail and precision. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to foster and maintain robust relationships with stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in Business Administration, Construction Management, or a related field. Professional accreditation such as MRICS (Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) or equivalent. Experience with FIDIC or other standard forms of contracts utilized in infrastructure projects. Familiarity with project management software and tools for cost oversight, procurement, and contract management.
