You will be part of a highly skilled, efficient team dedicated to solving intriguing and complex challenges in the construction and operation of Amazon-owned data centers.

The Amazon Commissioning team (ACx) is focused on understanding, assessing, defining, and managing construction quality expectations in line with engineering designs to fulfill customer requirements.

The CxE plays a vital role in supporting vendors, contractors, and other teams involved in the construction and commissioning of various systems, including:

Additional Job Requirements
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for up to 25% of the year.
Personal transportation is required for meetings and job visits away from the office; expenses will be reimbursed.
Key Responsibilities
The Commissioning Engineer (CxE) provides oversight for testing and validation of AWS data center electrical and mechanical infrastructure.

CxEs review design documents, lead Factory Witness Testing (FWT), and manage third-party commissioning vendors during onsite pre-functional, functional, and integrated systems testing.

They take ownership of their projects' successes by diving deep to resolve technical issues and exhibiting a bias for action to address evolving schedules and coordination demands onsite.

Additionally, CxEs share lessons learned and continuously collaborate on program enhancements.
The CxE will contribute multi-disciplinary input into scheduling, test script development, design, and project planning.

Moreover, the CxE will review component submittal packages, lead Factory Witness Testing (FWT), and perform system-level and integrated system testing.

During commissioning, the CxE will consistently audit activities to ensure compliance with environmental, quality, and safety standards.

Furthermore, the individual will be responsible for comprehensive weekly reporting on the status of all ongoing projects and lessons learned to enhance the quality of our program.

This position encompasses oversight of multiple ongoing projects with aggressive timelines.
A Day in the Life

In a typical project, the CxE collaborates with AWS engineering, capacity delivery, operations, and contractor teams to coordinate site activities, prioritize tasks, and ensure that each issue has a clear resolution path.

The CxE manages the project commissioning vendor, whose primary responsibility is to identify issues, assess their criticality, propose solutions, and document findings.

If project turnover is at risk, the CxE escalates the matter to the appropriate stakeholders.

Upon project completion, the CxE communicates lessons learned to assist peers on similar projects and participates in initiatives aimed at improving the commissioning program.
