Plasma Center Medical Support Specialist

About the Role:
As a Medical Support Specialist at BioLife Plasma Services, you will play a vital role in ensuring the quality and safety of plasma donations. Your primary responsibility will be to determine donor eligibility, manage donor adverse events, and review laboratory test results. You will work closely with the Center Manager and Center Physician to ensure that all medical and operational aspects of the plasma center are running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Determine donor eligibility, including proper management of informed consent, AIDS education, and confidential self-exclusion.
- Conduct medical history interviews and physical examinations to ensure donor safety.
- Review laboratory test results, including Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE), to ensure donor eligibility.
- Evaluate donor reactions and follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs when needed for guidance on medical or technical issues.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent, including a graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
- Currently licensed or certified as an EMT-Paramedic in the state where responsibilities will be assigned.
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification.
- Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
- Satisfactorily complete FDA-approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
