Job Summary

Cornell University is seeking a skilled Food Service Worker S02 to join our team in the Cornell Dining department. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for preparing and serving a variety of cold food items and beverages to our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and serve cold food items and beverages to customers
  • Interact directly with customers and work in an open kitchen environment visible to customers
  • Prepare and assemble a wide variety of cold food and beverage items for dining rooms, cafes, and coffee houses
  • Operate standard and advanced kitchen equipment
  • Follow scaled recipes to ensure offerings are prepared according to menu and recipe standards
  • Maintain cleanliness, stock levels, and organization of assigned stations
  • Assist with maintaining portion control and recording amounts of food prepared, served, and left over in a standardized service line worksheet
  • Process sales transactions, including cash, check, credit, and meal plan card transactions
  • Ensure sanitary, HACCP, and NY State Health codes and procedures are maintained in assigned areas
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent with relevant food service, barista, or cash handling experience
  • Basic proficiency in English, including reading, writing, math, and verbal articulation
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs. occasionally and up to 50 lbs. (minimal)
  • Ability to reach over head, stand for long periods, and conduct repetitive motion
  • Ability to withstand frequent/continuous exposure to temperature changes and environmental impacts
Preferred Qualifications
  • Additional education and experience in food service or production kitchen
  • Knowledge of proper sanitation and HACCP procedures
  • ServSafe Certification
