Battelle Memorial Institute is seeking a highly skilled Histology Technician to join our team in Columbus, OH. As a Histology Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting our research and development efforts by processing and preparing tissue samples for analysis.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine and complex histological procedures, including tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining.
- Operate computerized equipment and record data using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
- Perform routine maintenance and operation of various histology laboratory equipment.
- Use proper record keeping in accordance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
- Understand and follow all pertinent Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Study Protocol requirements.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience with 5-7 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
- Certified as a Histology Technician, HT (ASCP) or Histotechnologist, HTL (ASCP).
- Experience with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within histology field.
- Adherence to chemical agent, facility, and bio-facility safety requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to be organized, multitask, communicate effectively with a team, and desire to learn new skills.
- Able to work at a fast pace, in a high throughput lab, with loud machinery.
- Sufficiently medically fit to do work in a lab wearing appropriate respiratory equipment and perform assigned duties.
- Working knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) in support of non-clinical studies.
- Demonstrated detail-orientation and strong organizational skills.
- Must be reliable and punctual.
- Must have good written and verbal communication skills and work well with others.
- Knowledge in Excel, Word, Access, and SharePoint.
- Must be a US Citizen to perform duties of this role.
- Must be willing to work in a biosafety level 2 (BSL2) and/or 3 (BSL3) environment and able to wear appropriate respiratory protection.
- Must be willing to be immunized with licensed and FDA approved vaccines recommended for persons at risk to occupational exposure of biological agents.
- Must be willing to participate in periodic drug screening.
- Must be willing to work occasional evening, weekend, and holiday hours.
- Working knowledge of Provantis.
