Critical Care Nurse Specialist

About Our FacilityLocated in Anchorage, Alaska, we are a 250-plus bed facility renowned for our expertise, compassion, and commitment to delivering patient-centered care. We have received 5-star ratings for heart attack treatment, bowel obstruction treatment, and colorectal surgery, and we are part of the HCA Healthcare network, which includes over 300 affiliate facilities across the country.
Job Responsibilities- Prioritize nursing care for assigned critically ill patients based on assessment data and identify needs for intervention.
- Demonstrate appropriate decision-making, critical thinking, and clinical judgment to make nursing decisions and identify health care needs.
- Evaluate and document each patient's response to medications, interventions, and procedures.
- Assist in the formulation, coordination, and implementation of the patient's Plan of Care based on the assessment of their individual needs.
- Monitor basic EKG, recognize rhythms, and intervene as needed.
- Assist the physician with procedures such as intubation, line placement, and chest tubes.
- Ensure ventilator, monitors, and other equipment are functioning properly and troubleshoot alarms.
- Demonstrate flexibility, organization, and ability to function well under stressful situations.
- Collaborate with fellow members of the critical care team.
- Current Alaska nursing license in good standing.
- Associate's Degree in nursing required, Bachelor's preferred.
- One-year critical care experience required, two years preferred.
- American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) certification.
- American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certified (ACLS).
The annual salary for this position is approximately $114,000-$141,000 depending on experience.
