Asphalt Paver Operator Role at Grace Pacific LLC

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operates the screed of the asphalt paver
  • Utilizes the back of the spreader to control asphalt thickness
  • Adjusts asphalt thickness through cranks on the spreader
  • Measures asphalt thickness with a depth rod and makes necessary modifications
  • Manages automatic screed sled according to work conditions and specifications
  • Employs a shovel to fill depressions and achieve the required asphalt thickness
  • Supports Laborers and Rakers in achieving surface level
  • Inspects vehicles prior to operation and completes necessary CDL checklists
  • Performs additional assigned tasks as needed

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Capability to read, write, and complete equipment reports
  • Valid driver's license with a favorable traffic record; CDL Type B preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in paving preferred
  • Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team
  • Understanding of safety protocols and regulations
  • Familiarity with grade control automation systems
  • Knowledge of grades, slopes, terrain, and material specifications
  • Proficient in using various tools and equipment
  • Capacity to walk continuously throughout the workday
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 40 pounds
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime as required

Grace Pacific LLC primarily employs carpenters, laborers, and operating engineers. We operate under collective bargaining agreements with various unions. As projects develop, we will coordinate with the respective union for staffing needs.
