**Job Title:** Lead Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic
STS Technical Services is seeking a highly skilled Lead Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic to join our team in Chicago, Illinois. The estimated salary for this role is $80,000 - $105,000 per year, depending on experience.
About the Job:
As a Lead Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic, you will be responsible for leading a team of mechanics in inspecting, modifying, and repairing aircraft at our maintenance base. You will troubleshoot technical discrepancies, execute repairs, and guide junior technicians on advanced tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot technical discrepancies and execute repair of company aircraft
- Accomplish aircraft inspections per company procedures
- Proficient in use of electronic test equipment, voltage or amperage measuring, recording devices, and navigation troubleshooting equipment
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, schematics, and technical orders
- Inspect and assist in maintenance of company equipment and tooling
- Work as a member of a team that will interface with contract maintenance personnel
- Follow safety measures, good shop practices, and cleanliness standards
- Communicate discrepancies to Maintenance Control department found during inspections and follow directions to troubleshoot and repair faulty conditions
- Ensure that all aircraft documentation is completed accurately per company and FAA procedures prior to aircraft departure
- Leads and guides mechanics on advanced tasks
- Organize daily tasks and coordinate inspections/repair of aircraft
- Coordinate materials and tooling requirements for projected work for entire shift
- Act as shift manager as required
- Schedule manpower to cover aircraft maintenance and inspections
- Perform Manual and Aircraft parts inventories as required
- Assist other company departments to ensure on-time departure of company aircraft
- Additional duties assigned
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant Certificate
- 5+ years of experience in Line Maintenance on Boeing Aircraft
- 1+ year of Lead experience
- Formal training on advanced systems/avionics on Boeing aircraft
- Must be able to read, write, fluently speak, and understand the English language
- Strong analytical, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft software and in use of digital manuals
- Strong work ethic and organizational skills
- Must be able to work in variable weather conditions
- Able to work rotating schedules to include weekends, nights, and holidays
- Must possess valid passport or State issued driver's license and may travel occasionally for AOG recovery and special projects when requested
