POSITION SUMMARY
The role involves the assembly and disassembly of various automotive parts and units in preparation for maintenance, refurbishment, or cleaning.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Conduct inspections, repairs, and replacements of worn or damaged components.

2. Assemble machine units or parts in relation to engine and component servicing.

3. Install new components and modifications to engines.

4. Perform cleaning tasks and other assigned duties.

5. Carry out inspections, repairs, and replacements of units as necessary.

6. Execute related responsibilities as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

CHALLENGES
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

- Must pass drug and alcohol testing as required by federal regulations.

- Must possess or obtain a valid driver's license.

- Previous experience as a Unit Preparer or in a similar role is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and climb throughout the work cycle.

- Capable of lifting and carrying materials weighing up to 50 pounds.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

- Comprehensive understanding of various automotive equipment components and parts used in the repair, maintenance, and overhaul of vehicles.

- Proficient in the use of hand tools and equipment necessary for the assembly and disassembly of automotive engines and components.

- Familiarity with acceptable methods and procedures for cleaning and degreasing automotive parts.

- Ability to operate the Authority's automotive vehicles and equipment.

- Competence in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.

WORKING CONDITIONS
- Work may be performed in or around pits.

- Exposure to grease, live steam, and shop noise is expected.

EQUIPMENT, TOOLS, AND MATERIALS UTILIZED

- Standard toolset for bus repair as provided by the Authority.

- Equipment such as overhead cranes, steam cleaning devices, heating torches, and forklifts.
