The Clinical Sleep Specialist is responsible for conducting comprehensive sleep evaluations, ensuring patient education, and overseeing clinical procedures during sleep studies.
Key Responsibilities- Provides both direct and indirect patient support in accordance with healthcare regulations.
- Assists patients with essential daily activities.
- Records, documents, and communicates patient care information effectively.
- Engages with patients, observes their conditions, and notes behavioral patterns.
- Contributes to patient care initiatives aimed at enhancing health outcomes.
- Exhibits leadership qualities and effective problem-solving abilities.
- Acts as an advocate for patient rights and needs.
- Ensures adherence to standards set by regulatory bodies.
- Participates in activities aimed at improving unit performance.
- Collects and evaluates patient data to determine specific testing requirements.
- Prepares both patients and necessary equipment for sleep studies.
- Conducts various polysomnographic assessments in line with established protocols.
- Accurately scores sleep/wake cycles and compiles detailed reports.
- Follows departmental guidelines, including those related to infection prevention.
- High School Diploma or equivalent qualification.
- Experience in the role of a polysomnographer.
- Proficient in computer applications and software (Microsoft Office).
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Associate's Degree in a relevant discipline.
- Licensed Polysomnographic Technologist.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Required clearances as per regulations.
- No direct supervisory duties, but provides coaching and mentorship.
Involves various physical demands and conditions pertinent to the role.
