Pulmonology specialists are medical professionals who specialize in respiratory and lung diseases. Their expertise is crucial in diagnosing and treating conditions affecting the lungs and airways.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose and treat respiratory conditions, including asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and pneumonia.
  • Conduct pulmonary function tests and manage ventilatory support, including oxygen therapy and mechanical ventilation.
  • Educate patients on respiratory health and prevention, including smoking cessation and healthy lifestyle habits.

Requirements
  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Completion of internal medicine residency and pulmonary fellowship programs.
  • Board certification in pulmonology from a recognized medical board.
  • Strong analytical skills for diagnostic testing and patient evaluation.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective patient care and collaboration with healthcare teams.
