Westchester Medical Center is in search of a dedicated and skilled Critical Care Anesthesiologist to enhance the Department of Anesthesiology. Recognizing the essential role Anesthesiologists play in our diverse patient demographics, we are looking to expand our team to meet the growing demands of our academic and clinical responsibilities in the Hudson Valley.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Must be board-certified or board-eligible in Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine.
  • Demonstrated clinical excellence and a strong focus on patient-centered practices.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment, showcasing strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Capability to excel in a dynamic and demanding healthcare setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer anesthetic care during critical medical situations.
  • Coordinate treatment plans and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care in our Intensive Care Units (ICUs).
  • Lead daily interdisciplinary rounds with the ICU and surgical teams.
  • Oversee the operations of the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).
  • Engage in clinical research and contribute to advancements in anesthesiology and surgical critical care.
  • Provide continuous 24/7 care for complex, critically ill patients across various specialties.
  • Work closely with trauma surgeons and surgical intensivists to deliver integrated critical care services.
  • Participate in the development of educational programs for residents and fellows in anesthesiology and surgical critical care.
  • Contribute to the Fellowship Education and Ultrasound training curriculum.
  • Share responsibilities for flexible rotations in the cardiothoracic ICU.
  • Participate in a flexible on-call schedule, ensuring adequate time off for work-life balance.
  • Potentially work nocturnal shifts to maintain oversight and ensure comprehensive coverage for critically ill patients.
  • Educate medical residents, fellows, and students in surgical and anesthesiology disciplines.

Intensive Care Units (ICUs) Covered:

  • Cardiac Surgical ICU: Management of patients post-complex cardiac procedures.
  • General Surgical ICU: Care for patients with severe trauma and those recovering from significant surgeries.
  • Trauma ICU: Intensive monitoring and treatment for patients with complex neurotrauma.
  • Conduct preoperative assessments and provide recommendations.
  • Engage in discussions regarding resuscitation and life-support options with patients and their families.
