Overview:

The Automation Controls Engineer is tasked with the development and upkeep of all PLC and HMI programming, alongside the oversight of plant dashboard systems. This role necessitates close cooperation with production operations and logistics to tailor workflows and fulfill operational demands. The Engineer acts as a vital technical advisor, offering automation insights and assistance for the processing facility.

The initial compensation for this role is $28.41 per hour, with alternating work schedules from Monday to Friday and Monday to Saturday.

Key Responsibilities:


• Develop and sustain PLC and HMI programming utilizing software such as RS Logix 5000, RS Studio 5000, RS Logics 500, Visio, Factory Talk ME, and SE, EZ-touch, among others.
• Integrate and maintain equipment, including VFDs, flow meters, valve banks, and other devices linked to PLCs.

• Assist in identifying the requirements and locations for cabling, wiring, power supplies, motor control centers, and PLCs to satisfy facility needs.

• Oversee SE server equipment for the plant dashboard, including FT Directory, engineering workstations, HMI servers, data servers, and RDP clients.

• Manage security updates, patches, and oversee security groups for system access.
• Maintain automation switches, network equipment, and Win911 system.
• Support various Wonder Ware Systems in the facility, including Rendering, Wastewater, and Refrigeration.
• Design and implement new PLC control systems and update electrical schematics as necessary.
• Provide assistance to Maintenance and ensure compliance with electrical and IT infrastructure specifications.
• Create and schedule batch jobs/workflows and troubleshoot processing issues.
• Analyze application performance and aid in resolving connectivity challenges for factory users and systems.
• Collaborate across departments with database administrators, system administrators, and other teams to diagnose and resolve intricate issues.
• Apply application patches and perform upgrades as required, configuring, installing, and maintaining connectivity with host computer devices.
• Diagnose system challenges and devise strategies to prevent downtime, enhance reliability, and improve safety.
• Procure software, hardware, or components for specialized projects or equipment repair/installation.

Qualifications:
• Associate's Degree in a PLC/HMI related field or equivalent experience required.
• Experience in configuring wiring, cabling, servers, computers, and equipment.
• Experience in food manufacturing preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents, regulations, and procedures.
• Proficiency in English; bilingual skills a plus.
• Strong mathematical and reasoning abilities.
• Proficiency in computer usage and industry-standard software.
• Knowledge of Ethernet communication, 24v and 120v control power, and actuating 480v equipment.
• Relevant certifications are advantageous.
• Allen Bradley PLC and HMI experience required.

• Ability to navigate the facility and perform various physical tasks.
• Capability to lift and move objects of varying weights.
• Vision capabilities for close work and focus adjustment.

Work Environment:
• Exposure to varying environmental conditions, including cold/hot, humidity, outdoor elements, dust, and odors.
• Regular proximity to moving mechanical parts and occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, temperature extremes, and vibration.
• Loud noise levels typical of plant operations.

Normal Work Schedule:
• Hours and days of work are subject to operational needs and management discretion.
