Freed Maxick CPAs P C is a leading accounting firm in Western New York, recognized for its outstanding culture and collaborative environment. We are seeking a highly skilled Tax professional to join our team.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work with complex tax and SEC challenges, encountering unique and challenging issues that will help you grow professionally. As a Tax professional, you will be responsible for managing the quarterly and annual income tax provisions for various SEC and non-SEC filings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with U.S. reporting for ASC 740, Accounting for Income Taxes
  • Prepare FIN 48 memos and related analysis
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of tax laws and current developments
  • Prepare and record monthly, quarterly and annual income tax provision in accordance with ASC 740, including analysis of Effective Tax Rate, current and deferred taxes
  • Collaborate with other business partners to effectively understand accounts which are tax sensitive and determine related tax treatment
  • Provide support for the U.S. federal income tax return, state and local income and franchise tax returns
  • Assist in the evaluation and implementation of tax planning opportunities
Requirements
  • Bachelor's/MBA with CPA
  • Experience completing federal and state income tax returns
  • ASC 740 experience
  • Good presentation, client-facing and communication skills
  • A strong background in maintaining and building client relationships
  • Has 5+ years of experience with accounting for income taxes under ASC 740 either as an employee of a corporation or through public accounting client service
  • Possesses a strong understanding of federal income tax for corporations, including the ability to identify issues and calculate book/tax differences
  • Has excellent research skills (using CCH, RIA Checkpoint, BNA, etc.) and an understanding of federal and state tax authorities
  • Has experience with quarterly and annual income tax provisions
  • Assists in the development and implementation of tax planning initiatives
  • Prepares, reviews or manages the tax provisions and serves as a technical resource for ASC 740 issues for audit teams relative to accounting for income taxes

The compensation for this role varies based on experience and falls within the range of $90,000 to $120,000. These salary ranges are for applicants based in Western New York. Consideration will be given to applicants outside of our geographic area with appropriate ranges provided, based on location.
