Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Groundskeeper to join our team at Forest Home. As a Groundskeeper, you will be responsible for maintaining the outdoor grounds and facilities, ensuring they are safe, clean, and well-maintained.

Key Responsibilities
  • Landscaping and Grounds Maintenance
    • Provide detailed care of lawns, landscaping, and other areas of the grounds' appearance.
    • Assist in landscape and hardscape by planting, mowing, raking, pruning, etc.
  • Maintenance and Repair
    • Apply pesticide and fertilizer to facilities to enhance growth.
    • Assist in trimming trees, cutting and splitting firewood.
  • Inventory and Tool Management
    • Keep inventory and tools organized and in good condition.
    • Requires working outside in extreme hot or cold conditions.
  • Additional Responsibilities
    • Assist in snow removal and other tasks as assigned, including after normal work hours.
    • Keep walkways safe and clear of debris and snow.
    • Assist in general building maintenance.
    • Assist in the removal and collection of waste.
    • Maintain all outdoor furniture.
    • Assist with loading or unloading trucks and moving furniture/equipment as needed.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to hear from God and pray for people, both in person and over the phone.
  • Skill running mowers, string trimmers, hedge bars, blowers, etc.
  • Knowledge of plants and pruning techniques, how to apply fertilizers and herbicides.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity to operate tools and machinery.
  • Sufficient physical agility to work from ladders or on roofs if necessary.
  • Assume responsibility for initiating a pleasant atmosphere by displaying a professional attitude through performance, appearance, and demeanor.
  • Actively supports and participates in the staff spiritual life activities.
  • Regular, timely attendance.
  • Signed statement of faith.
  • Requires ability to work weekends and overtime as needed.
  • Technical ability and capability.
  • A self-starter.
  • Uphold and support the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of Forest Home.
  • Excellent people service skills, with the ability to provide service and streamline processes without compromising the integrity of the department or Forest Home and its policies and procedures.
  • Able to accomplish assigned projects utilizing good communication, project management, time management, and collaboration skills.
  • Demonstrate the ability to perform high-quality work.
Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be loud at times.
