Job Summary:

Grocery Clerks are responsible for ensuring the grocery section of the store is well-stocked for our customers. S/he must assist in receiving, storing, and stocking of products while guaranteeing proper product rotation and quality. S/he must be familiar with store products and their location in order to assist customers in finding items.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional customer service to all guests.
  • Ensure all service standards are frequently met and often exceed company expectations.
  • Utilize knowledge and training to effectively use a scan gun and stock grocery department shelves.
  • Rotate and monitor product expiration dates, stock and face products, build displays, and handle product damages and credits according to company policy.
  • Complete all stocking and clean-up duties in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Assist with store operation activities such as cleaning or hanging signs, depending on business needs.
  • Assist in back-stock and ensure timely return of all items.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. with 0-3 years of experience in grocery store or similar retail environment.
  • Valid and up-to-date Food Handler's Certificate.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of department functions.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods, bend, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, frequently push/pull up to 100 lbs., frequently lift and/or move loads up to 50 lbs., and occasionally lift 75 lbs.
  • Ability to enter coolers and freezers, withstanding frequent temperature changes for extended periods.
  • Occasional high stress when dealing with systems, customers, or staff.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule with various shifts, including weekends and holidays, as determined by the store/business needs.
  • Reliable source of transportation.
