As an Estimator, you will play a crucial role in creating accurate estimates for various construction projects, ensuring cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities- Develop detailed construction budgets and cost estimates
- Understand unit costs of different construction materials and labor
- Stay up-to-date with overall SF cost of construction for different building types
- Read and understand Plans, Specifications, and Contracts
- Prepare job budgets and job books for construction
- Award subcontractors as required
- Review cost vs. budget and general construction productivity
- Encourage repeat business and develop field contacts
- Participate in client meetings and meetings with authorities and owners
- Review and approve invoices
- Maintain current drawings on site
- Coordinate with Project Managers on all change orders
- Update Accounting cost reports
- Troubleshoot cost issues for the Division V.P., Project, and Superintendent
- Work with architects and engineers in design
- Understand the Value Engineering (VE) process and lead working sessions
- Four-year college or technical school and/or training is preferred with a minimum of 5-10 years related construction experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (All Applications)
- Experience with CMGC Delivery
- Experience with Conceptual Estimating
- Experience with Design Build
- Experience in Smart Bid and Plan Swift
- Experience in On-Screen Takeoff Software/Oasis
- Ability to multi-task and manage several different activities at a time
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry, and surveying
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical documents, contracts, specifications, or governmental regulations
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions within groups of managers, clients, investors, customers, and the general public
Must be able to pass controlled substance tests prior to and at all times during employment.
