Training Systems Manager

The primary role of the Training Systems Manager is to lead the development, execution, and oversight of training methodologies, programs, and processes to fulfill educational objectives within the Air Force Materiel Command.
Key Responsibilities- Initiate and supervise instructional initiatives across various subject areas and course clusters.
- Oversee comprehensive training needs to ensure adequate staffing for multiple specialties.
- Prepare and assess technical and financial documentation to facilitate the acquisition of advanced instructional systems and services.
- Manage all programming tasks related to designated training courses.
- Design and implement special projects aimed at addressing challenges, enhancing training quality, and responding to specific directives.
To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the educational requirements as outlined in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, specifically for the Instructional Systems Series.
A degree is required, supplemented by at least 24 semester hours relevant to the position, covering at least four of the following areas:
- Learning Theory: Understanding of learning theories in relation to the systematic design and validation of instructional materials.
- Instructional Design: Knowledge of principles and techniques for developing effective training programs.
- Educational Evaluation: Skills in evaluating the effectiveness of educational programs through various assessment tools.
- Instructional Product Development: Expertise in creating training materials that meet learner needs and objectives.
- Computers in Education: Familiarity with the application of technology in educational settings.
Applicants must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level, demonstrating proficiency in applying knowledge of instructional systems and training methodologies.
Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesCandidates will be evaluated based on their knowledge and skills in the following areas:
- Professional understanding of learning theories and instructional practices.
- Familiarity with training resources and policies.
- Skill in instructional design and material development.
- Ability to set instructional objectives and assess progress.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
- Problem-solving capabilities related to instructional materials and support systems.
Experience gained through volunteer work or part-time positions will be considered. Applicants are encouraged to provide detailed descriptions of their responsibilities and hours worked.
