Job Summary

DISH, an EchoStar company, is seeking a highly skilled Spacecraft Operations Specialist to oversee daily shift activities and ensure the correct execution of TT&C operations. This role requires a strong understanding of spacecraft ranging and commanding, as well as the ability to work effectively in a 24/7 rotating shift environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the technical development of junior team members
  • Apply experience and professional judgment to evaluate, create, and implement innovative ground system configurations
  • Make proper troubleshooting and/or escalation decisions about anomalous conditions
  • Anticipate, coordinate, and establish ground system reconfigurations to ensure robust TT&C link availability
  • Analyze facts and principles and conclude spacecraft maneuver management
  • Coordinate and implement crew activities to support engineering, management, and corporate requirements
  • Re-enforce situational awareness of spacecraft operational activities, broadcast operations, company objectives, and advances in the space and communication media industries
  • Maintain shift logs, prepare reports, and provide timely project updates communicating work status and milestones
  • Initiate immediate response to spacecraft and TT&C system anomalies, including escalation notification
  • Investigate and analyze long- and short-term spacecraft performance trends
  • Manage the criteria used for monitoring all spacecraft subsystems
  • Research, develop, and present advanced training materials to meet team and organization requirements
Requirements
  • High School graduate
  • 5+ years of spacecraft operations experience
  • General or specialized knowledge of one or more of the following spacecraft systems and subsystems: Altitude, Propulsion, Power, Data Handling, Thermal, Mechanism, and Payload
  • Ability to work a non-standard 12-hour rotating work schedule to include nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
  • Possess strong organizational skills and the ability to communicate effectively (both writing and verbally) to interact effectively with peers, management, and executive leadership
  • Be detailed-oriented with strong time management skills
  • Ability to support multiple projects and responsibilities simultaneously
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Possess strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and other computer networking and communications systems principles
Work Environment

This role is located onsite in Gilbert, AZ and requires a 12-hour rotating shift schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Compensation

The base pay range is $27.02/Hour - $38.70/Hour, and includes a comprehensive benefits package, including flexible spending accounts, HSA, a 401(k) Plan with company match, ESPP, career opportunities, and a flexible time away plan.
