About the Role

RUSH University Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Ambulatory Nurse Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and promoting a positive patient experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients and families through effective communication and empathy.
  • Develop and implement individualized plans of care that address the unique needs and goals of each patient.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure seamless care coordination and optimal patient outcomes.
  • Utilize evidence-based practices and protocols to deliver high-quality patient care and promote a culture of safety.
  • Provide education and support to patients and families to empower them to manage their health and make informed decisions.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of policies and procedures that promote excellence in patient care.
Requirements
  • Current State of Illinois Registered Nurse licensure (State of IN RN licensure required for those working in Indiana).
  • At least one year of nursing experience.
  • Earned Nursing Degree at the Baccalaureate level or higher (for those hired after January 1, 2014).
  • Current CPR Certification.
  • Specialty certification may be required for certain departments within 12 months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • National Certification.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to walk throughout the Medical Center and to be standing or walking most of the designated shift.
  • Ability to lift or carry objects 35-40lbs. and lift and position patients, some of whom may exceed 300lbs.
Work Environment
  • Work conditions include performing procedures where carelessness could result in injury or illness and/or contact with potentially infectious materials and/or strong chemical agents.
