Street Outreach Counselor

Community Human Services is seeking a skilled Counselor I to join our Street Outreach Program team. As a Counselor I, you will provide outreach services to high-risk street youth, serving as a referral source for essential services and providing informal counseling and support.

• Provide outreach services and counseling to runaway, homeless, and high-risk street youth
• Develop and implement plans for outreach services to meet the needs of street youth
• Establish and maintain relationships with referral sources, including food, clothing, transportation, medical, and dental services, housing, vocational training, and academic programs
• Compile and maintain detailed documentation of client activities and data collection
• Act as a liaison with law enforcement and social services providers in the community
• Provide informal counseling and arrange individual and family in-clinic counseling as needed
• Supervise youth during drop-in hours and provide safe transportation when necessary
• Facilitate weekly drop-in breakfast and dinner for youth

• Bachelor's Degree in counseling, psychology, or social work
• Two years' experience working with youth in the counseling, psychology, or social work field
• Ability to work with high-risk youth and their families, and to function within defined limits with direct instruction
• Valid California driver's license and insurance

• Competitive salary range: $51,891-$63,075 per year
• Additional 5% for bilingual candidates
