Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Heavy Construction Equipment Operator to join our team at the U.S. Army in Ohio, Kentucky, or West Virginia. As a Horizontal Construction Engineer, you will play a crucial role in building and maintaining infrastructure for the military.

About the Job

This is a challenging and rewarding position that requires strong operating skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work well under pressure. You will be responsible for operating heavy equipment such as bulldozers, cranes, graders, and other machines to complete construction projects. Your duties will include analyzing grade stakes, driving heavy equipment to level earth, clearing debris, excavating, backfilling, stockpiling, and pushing scrapers with tractor crawlers.

Job Responsibilities
  • Analyze information on grade stakes and place them accurately
  • Drive bulldozers, road graders, and other heavy equipment to level earth surfaces
  • Clear, grub, strip, excavate, backfill, stockpile, and push scraper with tractor crawler
  • Cut and spread fill material with a scraper
  • Transport heavy construction equipment with a tractor-trailer
  • Assist in performance of combat engineer missions
Training and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need to complete 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training and nine weeks of Advanced Individual Training. You will learn essential skills such as operation of different types of construction and rough terrain equipment, maintenance and repair of equipment, identification of soil types, and placement of grade stakes.

Salary and Benefits

The estimated annual salary for this position is around $65,000-$80,000, depending on experience and qualifications. Additionally, you will receive comprehensive benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
