The University of Maryland Eastern Shore is seeking a highly skilled Grant and Contract Administrator to join our team. As a key member of our Financial Services operations, you will be responsible for providing administration and financial compliance for complex portfolio grants and contracts.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage day-to-day post-award administration and financial compliance for a complex portfolio of grants and contracts.
- Collaborate with principal investigators to monitor award expenditures and ensure allocability and allowability with sponsor and university policies.
- Understand and apply university and sponsor policies while supporting award modification, including no-cost extensions, change in personnel, scope revision, and budget reallocation requests.
- Prepare and process invoices, ensuring that financial accounting procedures are followed.
- Responsible for preparation, review, and submission of financial reports to sponsors through various mechanisms, including sponsor web-based portals.
- Assist with internal reports with direction from supervisor.
- Manage and review budget setup, subrecipient and subcontract agreement processing, encumbers funds, and participates in subrecipient financial monitoring.
- Meet with faculty to discuss their awards, liaise with key offices, including financial services, business travel, accounts payable, procurement, etc.
- Participate in training to increase research administration knowledge.
- Bachelor's Degree with two years of related experience.
- Previous experience in an academic setting.
- Working knowledge of federal regulations governing the administration of grants and contracts, including Uniform Guidance, Federal Acquisition Regulations, and agency-specific regulations.
- Technical proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Must be goal-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently as well as in coordination with various teams.
- Demonstrates willingness to take on new challenges and openness to change.
- Ability to work in a team environment to deliver high-quality customer service.
- Ability to demonstrate effective time-management, problem-resolution, and organizational skills.
