Position Overview:
North Mississippi Health Services is in search of a dedicated Clinical Laboratory Technologist to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervision: Oversee the workflow of phlebotomists in the Specimen Processing area.
  • Leadership: Act as the Charge Medical Technologist in the absence of the supervisor or Lead MT.
  • Distribution and Transportation: Ensure the precise and efficient movement of laboratory supplies, equipment, and specimens while adhering to all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Specimen Handling & Processing: Comply with regulatory standards in the handling and processing of laboratory specimens, ensuring accurate patient identification and labeling.
  • Communication: Maintain effective communication with all staff, patients, and their families.
  • Customer Service: Implement AIDET principles and participate in CARES training to enhance patient service recovery when necessary.
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with all Pathology and NMHS employees.
  • Reporting/Recordkeeping: Ensure timely and accurate reporting of department testing and assist in achieving departmental performance improvement goals.
  • Education: Contribute to the training of students and new staff while engaging in continuing education to enhance skills.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to NMHS/NMMC policies and local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Job Knowledge: Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Biological Science, or a related field, and maintain ASCP Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist within the required timeframe.
