Position Overview

The Inventory Management Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the precision of inventory levels, managing intra-company shipments, designating inventory locations, and fostering relationships with key personnel at Cornerstone Building Brands facilities and suppliers to guarantee timely and competitive material receipt.

  • Collaborate with Supervisors, Operations Manager, and/or Plant Manager to create dedicated locations and labels for all materials within the facility.
  • Coordinate with Intracompany Coordinators to efficiently transfer materials to other facilities as necessary.
  • Examine inventory transactions for accuracy.
  • Track inventory levels and movements to maintain adequate stock to meet customer demands.
  • Receive materials into the inventory management system.
  • Work alongside the Supply Chain Team to recommend optimal inventory levels.
  • Oversee the cycle count program.
  • Compile consumables counts at the end of each month.
  • Identify root causes and implement process improvements for any inventory discrepancies.
  • Review compiled inventory reports and make necessary adjustments to balance records.
  • Present reports and recommendations to management regarding product selections and stocking levels to enhance profitability.
  • Maintain inventory records in compliance with the company's records retention policy.
  • Manage certificates of origin and Material Test Reports (MTRs) for completed projects.
  • Support compliance during audits.
  • Lead site Physical Inventory activities.
  • Additional projects and responsibilities may be assigned at the company's discretion.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; a college degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of three years of inventory control experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Strong mathematical skills.
  • Proficient technical skills, including MS Office Suite and data entry.
  • Ability to work accurately in a fast-paced setting.
  • Capacity to think quickly and adapt operations in response to unforeseen events.
  • Self-directed with a strong attention to detail to prevent errors.
  • Ability to interpret simple to complex documents requiring considerable inference.
  • Strong commitment to customer service.
  • Maintain a constant state of alertness and operate safely.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
