Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled UXO Specialist to join our team at GSI Service Group, Inc. This is a challenging role that requires strong technical skills and experience in handling munitions.
About the Job
The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying, extracting, moving, and consolidating discarded military munitions. They will also prepare firing systems, inspect materials, and transport demolition materials.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Munitions Handling: The UXO Specialist will handle all types of discarded military munitions, including explosive materials. They will ensure proper storage and transportation of these materials.
- Field Collection Procedures: The candidate will perform field collection procedures to identify contaminated soil and other hazards.
- Tactical Operations: They will participate in tactical operations, including escorting personnel who are not directly involved in UXO-related activities but have tasks to perform within exclusion areas.
- Technical Supervision: The UXO Specialist will provide limited technical supervision to UXO Clearance/Sweep personnel.
Requirements
- Education: A graduate of a qualified explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) school or a UXO school with at least three years of commercial UXO experience.
- Certifications: Current 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification and a valid Driver License.
- Skills: Ability to work outside normal hours, lift 50 pounds, and define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions.
- Vision Requirements: Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Salary and Benefits
We offer an attractive salary range of $65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on experience, plus benefits including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
Work Environment
The UXO Specialist will work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, often away from primary work locations, requiring flexibility and adaptability.
