About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Underwriter to join our team at Liberty Mutual. As a Senior Underwriter, you will be responsible for writing construction policies within underwriting authority, with limited guidance from leadership as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of brokers/agents and clients, leveraging market presence and knowledge to develop and underwrite profitable business.
  • Maintain a strong market presence, including established relationships with agents and brokers, and look to strengthen these relationships and develop new ones.
  • Contribute ideas for product development and participate in development and execution, as well as contribute to team projects such as process and tool improvement.
  • Collaborate effectively across teams, stakeholders, and partners, including UW Support, Claims, Actuarial, and Directors of Underwriting in GRS North America.
  • Mentor junior underwriters and new hires, providing guidance and support to help them grow and develop in their roles.
Requirements
  • Degree in Business or equivalent typically required.
  • A minimum of 2.5 years, typically 3 or more years, of progressive underwriting experience and/or other related experience.
  • CPCU or professional insurance designation preferred.
  • Proven analytical ability to evaluate and judge underwriting risks within scope of responsibility, including competence with all phases and aspects of the underwriting process, and proficiency in the use of qualitative and quantitative tools and techniques.
  • Must demonstrate comprehension of complex technical underwriting issues and be capable of defining and implementing necessary underwriting and administrative processes/workflows to properly manage or administer those issues.
  • Proven track record of developing and underwriting profitable business.
