Job Summary:

The Class A Commercial Delivery Driver is responsible for driving a tractor-trailer, adhering to all commercial driving regulations, and delivering grocery products between Service Centers and customers. This role supports the selling process and requires excellent communication and customer service skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate tractor-trailer combination, including doubles and triples, and/or straight trucks
  • Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections on equipment
  • Hook and unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from a tractor and/or trailer
  • Perform freight handling using motorized and manual equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks
  • Secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies
  • Verify and complete required documentation and reports
  • Comply with hazardous material regulations and procedures
  • Collect cash or checks for freight charges, as required
  • Follow dispatch instructions and communicate with dispatch, including delays, arrivals, and equipment problems
  • Demonstrate internal and external customer service
  • Communicate with customers to determine pick-up or delivery needs, solicit additional business, and provide leads to sales
  • Comply with all applicable laws and regulations, as well as company policies and procedures
Requirements:
  • Class A Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with double/triple and hazardous materials endorsement
  • Two years of experience utilizing an active Class A driver's license
  • Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) based on hiring standards
  • Meet all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulatory requirements under section 391 of the Federal Motor Carrier (FMC) regulations
  • Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Bi-lingual is a plus but not required
  • Must pass Drug Test and Background Check
Preferred Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Class A driver with a minimum of 2 years work experience, and a clean driving record
Working Conditions:

The Class A Commercial Delivery Driver will work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent exposure to changing weather conditions, traffic, and physical demands of the job. The driver must be able to sit for extended periods, bend, twist, squat, climb in and out of the truck, and lift and move bulky and heavy items without assistance.
